Although not the detailed gameplay impressions that many fans had hoped for, Joystiq is reporting that a brand new trailer for John Woo's Stranglehold has been released. This could not have come at a better time considering the game's already lengthy delay, and after watching the short video, I am starting to have faith in the title once again.

I have to admit that movie-to-game translations don’t particularly excite me, but this one looks like it might have enough legs to carry it at launch, provided that the final product looks and handles just as amazing as the trailers. This just might be the best Max Payne-esque style shooter since Dead to Rights the original Max Payne. Could someone else have finally gotten it right? Before you check out the trailer and see for yourself, you might want to rent Hard Boiled and witness Woo and Chow Yun-Fat's ability to create exquisite madness in motion. You will surely be excited then.
